DSIPScan
DSIPScan is a fast and efficient tool for scanning computers and devices on a local network. It is designed to provide an instant overview of the network without the need for complicated configuration.
Key features of the program
- No installation required (Portable): The program comes as a single executable file. Nothing is installed, and no entries are made in the registry. You can run it directly from a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
- High speed: The initial scan of the entire network is very fast, as the program first detects only basic network identifiers.
- Completely free (Freeware): The program is available free of charge for both commercial and non-commercial use.

How DSIPScan Works (Quick vs. Detailed Scan)
The program operates in two phases, ensuring maximum speed while also providing in-depth information when you need it.
1. Fast Global Scan
When you scan a range, you’ll get an overview of the following parameters:
- IP address and MAC address
- Device name
- Manufacturer (detected based on the MAC address from the internal database)*
- Response time (Ping)

2. Detailed Device Analysis
When you left-click on a specific row containing a detected computer, the program runs an in-depth analysis of that machine in the background to determine:
- Open and listening ports
- Shared folders
- Operating system estimate (detection is based on open ports and other specific network indicators)
Remote Management and Commands (Context Menu)
The program is not only designed for passive monitoring, but also allows you to remotely control network devices.
Control Tip: When you right-click on any detected computer in the table, a context menu with available commands will open.
You can perform the following actions using the right mouse button:
- Remote power on and off: Support for Wake on LAN (WoL), restarting, and shutting down computers (if the target machine allows it and has it enabled).
- Sending messages: A feature to send a text message to a selected machine (this feature is supported by Windows systems).
The program provides host information: it can display detailed information about the operating system on which it is running and can determine your public IP address (the address behind NAT).

How the program handles history and notes
The program does not require any external database. It saves everything to text files in the same folder where the program’s executable file is located.
Notes Feature (Unknown Device Detection)
- If you create a note for any computer in the list, the program will create a notes file in its folder.
- Key feature: In the application, a note is linked to the machine’s MAC address, not its IP address. Therefore, if a computer changes its IP address (e.g., via DHCP), your note will remain associated with it.
- Practical use: When you tag (name) all your known devices on the network in this way, you will immediately see any devices without a note during the next scan. This makes it easy to detect newly connected or unknown machines.
Network History Feature (Saving the Status)
- By default, the program only displays what is currently online. However, in the settings, you can enable the option to save scanned computers. (File menu → Save as dsipscan.json)
- How it works in practice:
- When you exit the program, the current network status is automatically saved to a file in the program folder.
- Each time you launch the program again, it immediately loads and displays the data from the previous session.
- This allows you to see in the list even those computers and devices that were found in the past but are currently turned off or offline.
How to Enter Addresses for Scanning
You can enter a single IP address, ranges, or entire subnets. If you enter multiple ranges at once, separate them with a comma.
Examples of supported formats:
- 192.168.1.0/24 (Subnet mask
- 192.168.1.0-255 (IP address range in the last octet)
- 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.255 (Full range from–to)
- 192.168.1.50(Specific IP address)
- 192.168.1.0/24, 192.168.2.0/24, 192.168.3.3 (Combination of multiple ranges and addresses)
Timeout (Response) Settings
By default, the program waits 1 second for a response from each device.
- Tip: If you have devices on your network that wake up from sleep mode more slowly (such as mobile phones), we recommend increasing this time in the settings so that the program can detect them correctly.

2. Portable Version (Portable .EXE)
Simply download and run it right away. No installation is required.
- Advantages: Runs directly without installation. Nothing is installed, so you can delete it by simply moving it to the Recycle Bin. Can be carried on a USB drive.
- Note: This file is not digitally signed. Therefore, Windows SmartScreen may display an „Unknown publisher“ warning when you first run it. To run it, simply click „More info“ and then „Run anyway.“
